The Calgary Police Service would like to invite you to our annual Crime Prevention Through Environmental Training

 WEEK 1, APRIL 06-09, 2010   8:00 AM TO 4:00 PM DAILY

Note: Please pick the week you prefer to attend.  Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) focuses on reducing criminal opportunities by modifying the physical environment. CPTED is used globally as a Best Practice  to reduce crime, by police, planners, architects, designers, engineers, community and crime prevention associations, governments, businesses, home owners, builders, security, property managers, to name a few. The City of Calgary, Planning Department, liaises with the Calgary Police Service, Crime Prevention Unit and Community Liaison Police Officers to make every effort to use CPTED strategies in the city of Calgary to reduce crime and improve safety in our city.   Students will expand their perception of the physical environment and its direct relationship to human behavior and crime.

WHERE: Calgary at the Rosebud Room, McDougall Centre, Southern Alberta Office of the Premier, 455 – 6 Street SW, from 08:00 to 16:00 hours each day. Included in the cost of the course are refreshments and a course binder.   Due to overwhelming demand, the Calgary Police Service will be hosting two separate level one courses (40 Hours) each. Please pick the week that fits your schedule and if you have a preference, reply as soon as possible, as the courses will fill quickly and we may not be able to accommodate your choice.

We will not be offering a CPTED Level 2 Advanced training this year. Week 1, Tuesday, April 06th – Friday April 09th, 2010 and Level 1 Week 2, Monday, April 12th – Thursday April 15th, 2010, with John Periversoff, the Vice-President of Security Through Safe Design.  Attached is a registration form outlining payment options, please return the completed form by February 15th, 2010. CPTED Basic - Edmonton (8:30AM)

A two-day (Basic) Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) workshop is being offered by the Edmonton Police Service Crime Prevention Unit on April 22 and 23, 2010.

Everyone is invited to a drug prevention information meeting to be held tonight, April 28th at 6:30 pm at the Conference Room, Ramada Inn & Suites in Stettler.  An investigator from the RCMP Drug Awareness Section in Edmonton will be presenting information pertaining to the risks associated to the abuse of Marihuana, Cocaine and other drugs.
