Alberta Retail Crime Summit

ARCS

The 2nd annual Alberta Retail Crime Prevention Summit will take place at the Holiday Inn & Suites Hotel in Red Deer, Alberta on March 22, 2018 from 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM. The address of the hotel is 33 Petrolia Drive, Gasoline Alley, phone: 403-348-8485. For those who would like to arrive the night before there will be rooms blocked under the summit name.

The summit will run in a similar fashion to the first one we had in May 2017 with a mix of presentations, discussions, and networking. Presentation will be conducted by law enforcement members in attendance along with representatives from the Bank of Canada and the Crown Prosecutors office.  It is structured this way to give retail stakeholders a forum to assess strategies and challenges on how different police agencies deal with ORC (Organized Retail Crime). A scope on fraud incidents and expectations on criminal charges will be touched on by the Bank of Canada and the Crown Prosecutor representatives.

Feedback from the first summit was extremely positive, which made it an easy decision to make this an annual event. This summit was designed to share ideas, build partnerships, and discuss strategies toward the common goal of combating ORC. We look forward to seeing familiar and new faces – remember this summit is driven by feedback so let us know your thoughts at the conclusion.

Special thanks to Pascal Bernard (FGL) and Oren Merker (TJX) for organizing the venue and refreshments, which includes coffee, snacks, and lunch. The invite has been sent out to all those on the group email – please respond ASAP as we need to confirm attendee numbers. Please don’t hesitate to contact one of the organizers if there are any questions or concerns.
